Situation
Hemp became legal.

In order for farmers to grow, a system needed to be in place by planting season.

Following a pilot, our client had less than a year to develop a process to manage crop growth.

Task

Create a full lifecycle Salesforce solution for specialized agricultural license issuance and management, share data between three federal agencies, and track compliance.

Action
Design Research
  1. Led a workshop to understand requirements
  2. Learned about each of the nine user groups through interviews
  3. Created personas and journey maps
  4. Created site maps and user flows
  5. Connected the research in a cohesive, clickable prototype

  1. Designed eight comprehensive prototypes with unique flows, and usability tested them to ensure they met users' needs. This included collaborating with developers to ensure feasibility.

  6. Public search tool for enforcement agencies

In addition, I created a full design and branding system as well as all graphics visible on the site.

In 2023, the total value of US hemp production was $291M. As of February 2025, 39 States, Territories, and Tribes have successfully submitted and had management plans approved. The platform continues to enable industry growth.
