SITUATION: The client wanted to connect educators and elevate learning opportunities in classrooms across the country.

TASK: Create a community of practice where likeminded educators could collaborate and share lesson plans, attend events, and access exclusive content and resources. A pilot site was requested within 6 weeks.

ACTION: Our team interviewed stakeholders about their needs and created personas to lead design efforts. We created a site map and mapped priority actions on these pages. I also created a branding system. Using Salesforce's out of the box features, I wireframed a pilot site that was stood up within 6 weeks. I ran usability tests on the pilot site to determine what features would bring educators back and provide them with productive content. As a result of these tests, our team created a custom "collections" feature to allow educators to curate lesson plans, and we established a badge system for site accomplishments.

RESULTS: A second round of usability testing found that the new features were a top reason that educators returned to the site, with several calling out the gamification badges. A 2023 survey found there to be users across all 50 states, and 74% of users agreed that the site helped them find and access educational resources more efficiently.
